In 2013 WebDone won the Wharton Social Media Leadership Award for its outstanding work in managing Israeli Army’s Home Front Command (a branch of Israel’s Defense Force – IDF) social media page during Operation “Pillar of Defense”.

Michal Schrieber founded WebDone in 2009 following her rich career path, both as graduate from Unit 8200 at the Intelligence Core of the Army, followed by a career in the Israeli media, as both a journalist and later an editor of a local magazine.

Her team at WebDone is a mix of both data analysts and media veterans, who understand the workings of managing an online media crisis.

In a crisis situation, such as Operation “Pillar of Defense”, this is the first time that Israeli Army Spokesman has transitioned from the traditional media channels and has over to being more interactive, motivating the public to actively share content online. This ,in fact, was the first of such activity of its kind in the world: Social media tools offering life-saving messaging during a wartime situation.
